This is our second annual FF&F Sr. High Spring Retreat. We get the name from Catholic Relief
Services (CRS) Food Fast and World Vision’s 30 Hour Famine. It still only cost $10 to attend! We also ask that you raise $25 for St. Joseph's Honduras Mission, World Vision, and CRS. So, please make sure to pick up your fundraising packet from the table by the youth office or off the CYM Bulletin Board. All participants will receive a T-shirt and the top fundraisers can get extra cool prizes! We will also have a Snowflake Prom, a.k.a. Derelite Fashion Show. (derelict + elite = derelite). Basically you will make your best outfit out of recycled and reused stuff. $5 spending limit!!! We will also be building Cardboard Mansions! So we will start collecting big cardboard boxes. You must be in grades 9-12th to attend.
The two Films that we will be watching are:
One day, Horton the elephant hears a cry from help coming from a speck of dust. Even though he can't see anyone on the speck, he decides to help it. As it turns out, the speck of dust is home to the Whos, who live in their city of Whoville. Horton agrees to help protect the Whos and their home, but this gives him nothing but torment from his neighbors, who refuse to believe that anything could survive on the speck. Still, Horton stands by the motto that, "After all, a person is a person, no matter how small." Written by Griffin84
The Human Experience [PG-13]*
The story of a band of brothers who travel the world in search of the answers to the burning questions: Who am I? Who is Man? Why do we search for meaning? Their journey brings them into the middle of the lives of the homeless on the streets of New York City, the orphans and disabled children of Peru, and the abandoned lepers in the forests of Ghana, Africa. What the young men discover changes them forever. Through one on one interviews and real life encounters, the brothers are awakened to the beauty of the human person and the resilience of the human spirit. Written by Simon Fung
