Virtus-Safe Environment Program

Protection of Children and Young People

The Catholic Diocese of Little Rock is committed to protecting children and young people. VIRTUS is the program that the Diocese of Little Rock chose to help protect children and young people from sexual abuse. VIRTUS is the brand name that identifies best practices programs designed to help prevent wrongdoing and promote "right-doing" within religious organizations. The VIRTUS programs empower organizations and people to better control risk and improve the lives of all those who interact with the Church. There are two programs within the VIRTUS umbrella that St. Joseph Parish covers with both the adults and the children: Protecting God’s Children for Adults and Touching Safety for Children and Youth.

Protecting God´s Children for Adults

All parish and school employees and volunteers, 18 years and older, who work with children ages 0 to 18, and all liturgical ministers are required to attend the training session Protecting God’s Children for Adults in order that St. Joseph parish remains in compliance with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishop’s guidelines on protecting our children from sexual abuse. If you do not work with children, but want to know more about the proactive efforts promoted by our Bishops, our Diocese, and our parish, you are invited to participate.
